In addition, Iranian documentaries ‘I am Esmat’ by Leila Norouzi and ‘True Love’ by Iman Behrouzi will be screened during the festival.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of the START, the Azeri deputy culture minister, Vagif Aliyev, said the festival is a good opportunity for cineastes from different countries to exchange their experiences.

He added that the festival enables cinema lovers to become acquainted with short films and documentaries from other countries.

Iranian director and screenwriter Kambozia Partovi is in the five-member jury panel at the festival.

The 9th edition of the START kicked off on Wednesday night and is set to run until November 17, 2018. Some 100 short films from 30 countries are taking part at the event.
